The Tabernacle Choir and Organ

This is the Tabernacle Choir. We were able to sit in on a live broadcast of the Choir. the Tabernacle was constructed from 1863 to 1867 and is the oldest building on Temple Square. It also has exceptional acoustic qualities.

The Tabernacle Organ is one of the finest pipe organs in the world. It is constructed of straight-grained pine that were hauled by ox-drawn wagons, 300 miles to Salt Lake City.The Organ has a total of 11,623 pipes all made from the pine and hand painted to look like brass.Like the pipes, the marble pillars inside the building were made of pine and hand painted to look like marble. the craftsmanship of the artists were incredible.
